cardio yoga...

I just finished 30 minutes of cardio yoga. And. It. Kicked. My. Booty.

How do I feel now? Sweaty. Shaky. Sweaty. And sweaty. Oh, and motivated to do it again tomorrow so it's not as hard as it was today.

I am leaving overweight Shauna behind with 2008. It's not a New Year's resolution, because I break those. It's a promise. I keep those.

Let's make 2009 wonderful by being caring and kind. Kind to ourselves, kind to one another and kind to our Planet. It's that simple.

Shauna out!

cute {little} corner

Today I am going to share with you the cutest little corner in my home that makes me smile. It is the cute corner. I just now decided I was going to call it that. This is not to be confused with the naughty corner - that is very different, and not cute at all.

This corner is new. The 8 drawer small dresser was given to me by a lovely family member, unfinished. I knew right away I would love it forever and give it some life and color and it would forever be stuck with me.

When my mom and sister were visiting for the holidays they helped me make a color choice for the dresser and then helped me paint it. After we painted it, we roughed it up a bit and distressed it. We beat it with a sock full of pennies and quarters, we sandpapered it, and we let Taylor at it with his play tool set. We had so much fun, and it seemed to be a bit therapeutic.

My sister helped me contact paper some gift wrap to make drawer liners, too. Aren't they cute?! These drawers now are in the corner of my bedroom, next to my bed, and it makes me love my bedroom, the most neglected room in our place.

So on top of the dresser is more lovelies. The print is a gift from my sister that she gave me for Christmas. She bought it from this lovely etsy shop, here. It's just wonderful. {Thank you, Karlie!!} And see that wonderful aqua colored candle stand? That was a thoughtful gift from my sweet sister in law, Summer. {Thank you, Summer!!} Isn't it just perfect, and totally my style?! Oh I love it, and the part that the candle sits on looks just like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup wrapper, so even better, and sweeter!! (I always seem to have chocolate and peanut butter on my mind!)

There you have it, my cute corner. I showed you one of my corners, now it's time to show me yours. And I totally don't mean that in a creepy way. Please believe me.

{eight years}

{warning: this post could get a little bit sappy...}

Eight years ago today I went on a blind date that would forever make my life brighter, more wonderful and lovely. Eight years ago today, Trask and I had our very first date. Oh what babies we were. I had just turned 18 and Trask was just about ready to turn 19... so young and awkward.

Our date consisted of Trask picking me up from work with a dozen roses (note he had to drive over 2 hours to come meet me), then a lunch at Quizno's (awful first date food - so messy!!), watched a bit of The Holiday Bowl (Go Ducks) at my house so my parents could meet him and make sure he wasn't too 'creepy' and then went to a movie (Castaway). Oh, and I totally kissed him first. Rare. Our date was about 8 hours long and I knew right away that I wanted him around forever. And look - he's still here!!

Trask, I love you with all of my heart. You make everything so much fun, no matter what it is. You are a wonderful husband, best friend and partner in crime. You are a fantastic dad, so involved, loving, patient and goofy. I love that you still laugh at my jokes. I love that our family means the world to you. I love that my heart belongs to you, and that is the way I always want it to be. And I still always kiss you first!!

Happy Eight Years, Trask. Here's to so many, many more.

a little note to say...

Merry, Merry Christmas to all my family and friends! Have a safe, warm and lovely holiday with your loved ones and take time to remember what the holiday is all about.

fun site + an etsy find!

lemon drop studio is going to be on a really fun site tonight called Own The Hour. I will be on the site at 6pm and 7pm Pacific Standard Time tonight. You must check it out - it features 12 goodies from Etsians every hour, around the clock. I found some fun sellers just by checking out what was on the site, and I even bought a real cool robot print this morning, too.

Here's the robot that I got for Taylor's room. It's from an etsy shop called Monster Gallery. Go check them out here.

not much to say

It's snowing - again. So in-between projects I am determined to find things that make me happy and post them here. I will continue adding to this post until the weather stops being horrible and rotten and dumb.

First goodie is the beauty, which can be found here.

And check this out - I just like the simplicity of these book covers, and the colors are lovely, right?! This goodie can be found here.

And this has to be the loveliest thing ever - and if you don't agree, we'll arm wrestle and I'll win, and then you'll have to agree with me. The amazing coat can be found here. Best yet, it's an etsy find.

And then there's this little beauty... found here.

And I think I just fell in love with this... and I found it here.

And how could you not adore these? And, you guessed it, an etsy find! You can view Annie and Olive's shop here.

oh how I miss you...

Sweet Mama's Family, why are you not on any of my channels anymore? I yearn to watch you, yet cannot. I have the first season on DVD and yet that is not enough. I want to see the episodes with Bubba!! It makes me so so sad.

A desperate cry out for help -- Either someone needs to upgrade my cable for me and pay the bill or they need to find Mama's Family DVDs and make this better. I cry about it, honestly. And yes, I know that's super pathetic, but I never said I was normal. Can someone please fix this sad situation!?

Any other Mama's Family fans out there? If so, I love you.

he makes me smile

Trask must have been pretty bored this weekend, because he FINALLY agreed to make a card with me while I was working on goodies for lemon drop. He picked out the exact piece of paper I knew he'd pick, from probably hundreds and hundreds of paper options. I know him well! I wasn't watching his every move while he was card-making, just told him where supplies were when he asked. I was intrigued when he asked for the stamps... and once he was finished, I laughed so hard, and that is one of the biggest reasons I married him - I am always laughing.

I am not sure who he is giving his card to, I will assume it's me that is money $, because I totally am. Right?!

Thanks for finally making a card, Trask, I love you even more now.

baby it's cold outside

Happy Sunday, yo.

So, if you have been following this blog for awhile, you might already know how much I don't enjoy the snow. Don't ask me why, I am not sure, all I know is that winter is not my friend. If I could change things around, I would have winter last two days - Christmas Eve through Christmas Day, and then BAM, here comes spring.

But, alas, I can't change the seasons, so I am dealing with it. We usually don't get much snow, hardly ever, but when we do, things get wild. We don't know how to drive in it, all the news channels can talk about is the dumb white snow, yadda yadda yadda. BUT, having a toddler that adores the snow, along with a hubby that likes the snow, too, and a rat terrier that goes berserk in the stuff, it is a tiny bit exciting, for awhile.

All this week it's supposed to be COLD - like not above freezing, cold. Ugh. Now I can't wear my cut-off shorts and tank tops and belly shirts. Sheesh. Winter always spoils my fun.

I hope you enjoy the pictures from today's snow shenanigans.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend, and please note, there is nothing wrong with Taylor's teeth, jaw or his bite - he just sticks his bottom jaw out when he's excited, just like I do. Charming, right!?

Etsy Find!!

About a month or so ago I came across the sweetest etsy shop ever, Zuzu Girl, and fell in love right away! Kristi of Zuzu Girl makes lovely fairy princess wands, halos, headbands, ribbon tutus and more! As soon as I saw her shop, I knew I needed to order one of her wands to go with the tutu that I made my niece McKenna for Christmas.

These are pictures taken from Zuzu Girl's shop, and it looks very similar to the wand that we'll be giving McKenna on Christmas Day. I borrowed Kristi's pictures because there is no way I could take a decent picture - and hers are lovely, but believe me, the wands are even more amazing in person. The wand I bought for my niece even has a cute little bell on one of the ribbons - isn't that fun?!

The wand was packaged beautifully and just looks so precious, whimsical and fun, and it is SO well made! (Yeah, I played with it a bit before I wrapped it up, so sue me!!)

So, I really think that you should scoot on over to Zuzu Girl's shop and have a look - and then come back and thank me for helping you find such a wonderful shop!!

she knows me well

Looky, looky!! Marie does indeed know me well. She gave me this amazing clutch this weekend just because she's awesome, or because I am awesome, and isn't it just lovely? Pure bliss. I can't wait to go somewhere and walk around like a hot shot! Thank you, Marie, thank you! I adore you. I do.

It's already December 4th and I can't believe it. Where did fall go? I am beyond ready for the holiday season - I can't stand winter, but I do love Christmastime, and so does Taylor. Here he is laying on my desk while I fill an etsy order. He's like a really immature supervisor in diapers.

We have ALL of our holiday shopping done, and most of it is already wrapped and in the closet. About 98% of the gifts we purchased were handmade, either by ourselves or fellow Etsians. And the other 2% we purchased from a small, local business. We are feeling good! Oh, well, I did buy one present from Target for Taylor, but that's it!! We are ready for December 25th! The holiday letters and pictures are sent out - so now I just need to figure out what I am baking this year. Trask gave me a few suggestions, but I need to come up with a few more.

We will pick out our Christmas tree this Sunday, from Plumper Pumpkins Farm again, like last year. I can't wait. Some of the house is already decorated, but it's hard when we don't have a lot of storage space or well, space in general.

Petey, my Christmas pine cone owl, is out in full effect, once again. I took a picture of him to document the fact he is still alive. This means something - he is 21 years old. I made him in kindergarten. And my husband makes fun of him every year, but Petey takes it like a true gentleman and turns away, ignoring the shaming and blaming and mocking. Trask can really be mean sometimes, especially to pine cone and cotton owls with misshapen eyes. He'll understand one day. I am teaching Taylor to respect Petey, and so far, so good - he is doing better than his dad.

We just added Susie the Owl to our Christmas collection. I found her on Etsy, of course, from a great shop, cuore. Isn't she lovely? She is so well-made, soft, and her details are amazing. I love her. And aren't her eyelashes just darling?!

We also let Taylor pick an ornament this year. He first chose a train, of course, but within 3 hours of having it home, he stepped on it and it broke. So we tried again, and this time he chose an orange wooden cat with a metal spiral tail as the hook. I will take a picture soon. Oh, and she has yellow and glitter on her chest. Of course.

Just to add some fun color to the top of our armoire in the living room I filled a square glass vase/bowl with red wooden beads, and they make me happy, so they are staying just like that. I am sure I could have become more creative with it, but I like it how it is, for now.

I hope everyone is having a happy holiday season. I will check back real soon, and don't forget to enter the giveaway over on lemon drop's blog... right here.

like free things that are pretty?!

Then you will want to enter my GIVEAWAY on lemon drop studio's blog. Go here for all the details and to enter, and good luck! Don't forget to tell your friends!

I just got this print for Taylor's room last week from Jaimee, owner of Modern Classics Kids on Etsy. Her whole shop is lovely! We did a little trade and I just love this print. Originally the tricycle was pink, but she switched it for me, letting me choose colors, and isn't it just perfect?! I just wanted to pass the good word of Modern Classics Kids. I also got a set of 12 bookplates for Taylor's books, too. So classy and fun!! Go check out her shop when you have a chance, it's lovely.

A Movie I Can Watch...

On Saturday I got to go see Twilight with some of my girlies and it was so much fun. I fell in love all over again with the book, characters and the story. I did like the book a bit better, but all of the characters in the movie were awesome, and just as my mind had pictured them when I was reading the book, especially Bella, Edward and Alice, and well, most of them, I guess.

I normally can't sit still very well for movies, at all. I am far too squirrely of a person. However, Edward really held my attention. Yum, yum. And it's not so much that he's attractive (although he's not bad), it's his character. Edward is charming, amazing, surreal, and oh, swoon, ugh, I am getting pathetic. Better go for now. But please, if you are looking for a fun read that goes by fast, no matter how little time you have to read, go read Twilight. And then come back and thank me for helping you make one of the best choices you have ever made.

Thankful + Blessed

As I have been up since 4:30 this morning unable to sleep, it has given me a lot of time to think (since it's never this quiet in the house usually!).

Today is Thanksgiving. Happy Thankgiving to everyone, I hope it's a day to reflect, love, laugh and make wonderful memories.

2008 has been a tricky year, but definitely an improvement from 2007. I don't expect life to always be easy, and the past few years have taught me a lot about priorities, true friends, family, my faith and life in general. I won't turn this into a 'woe is me' blog post, no way. My life is continually blessed, sometimes with little blessings that you don't notice right away, and then other times huge blessings that come in the nick of time. It wouldn't feel right grumbling about all the blips and crazy days of the past couple years, or 26 years, when I have so much more than those less fortunate than myself.

I am grateful for a roof over my head and blankets to keep me warm. I am grateful for an amazing husband who also happens to be my best friend. I am thankful we created a wonderful son that continues to amaze us everyday. He is going to make the world a better place - you just wait! I am grateful for the election results and hold promise for the direction this country will be taken. I am grateful for the troops that have served our country and don't get a chance to enjoy their families and friends as much as they'd like to. I am thankful that even in this economy, while things are still very tight financially, I am still able to stay at home with my son. I am thankful that lemon drop studio is doing well and gaining the attention of others. I am thankful for my friends and their love, whether I get to see them once a year or once a week, I would be lost without them, even my blogging friends whom I have never met but always have kind words that make me smile. How can I feel bad for myself when I have this much to be grateful for, and that's not even the whole list!?

I know that 2009 is going to be a wonderful year. I plan on volunteering even more than I do now, cooking more meals at home, trying to be a little more patient and will continue to focus on the simple things that make this life worth living.

Happy Thanksgiving Friends! I love you all.

I don't care, I love it!

I am on the third book of the Twilight series, Eclipse, by Stephenie Meyer and I am loving it! (I don't care if the books are for teenagers, I am hip!! Uh, is that the right word to use!?) I have a movie date on Saturday to go see Twilight, and I can't wait for friends, buttered popcorn and my Sweet Edward Cullen. Yum-o!

I never thought a book would come along and cure my PPD (Post-Potter Depression). I was so sad after the last Harry Potter, but alas, Vampires are the new Wizards.

I need help.

Who else likes them? Fess up.

VIDs - Very Important Dudes

Total understatement of the century, but... I LOVE MY GUYS!

Trask and Taylor make my life so wonderful and fun, bright and cheery, and they are both just so sweet. They are both equally as messy as the other, but I don't mind (usually), because it's totally worth it. I am blessed more than I can believe, and I am not sure how or why I got so lucky, but I am thankful.

Trask, thank you for teaching Taylor to be one of the good guys. His future wife will thank you for it, too.

thank you, Trask + Tay

I have the greatest husband and son in the world. They made my 26th birthday so very relaxing and special. I will come and add details to this post in the next day or so, but wanted to highlight some pictures from my surprise birthday weekend.

Trask, thank you for being the most amazing person I have ever met. I feel so lucky and blessed to have the love we have and the family that we made. You are everything. (Don't get a big head about it, though!)

And Taylor, you are the sweetest 2-1/2 year old boy. Your heart is so warm and kind, and the hugs and kisses you showered me with this weekend will stay with me always.

To celebrate turning 26 this Friday, I am going to share 26 fun (or not so fun), random facts about moi (fancy french way to say 'me') with everyone.

(My gift to you is this sweet picture of me rockin' the 'Becky from Roseann' haircut in 3rd grade!! Really soak it in and love it. Cherish it, too. You are welcome. Very welcome. I love awkward stages!!)

1. I was born in Eugene, Oregon. I lived in Eugene until July of 2005, when I moved to my current home in Hillsboro, Oregon. I love it up here.

2. I can't choose a favorite color, ever. Top favorites? Oranges, blues, greens, pinks, grays. I love 'em all.

3. I have grown a quarter of an inch taller since I had Taylor, 27-1/2 months ago. My feet also got a 1/2 size bigger, too. Enough of a difference that I needed all new shoes and gave all my old ones to my Ma-in-Law.

4. I used to be deathly afraid of needles, even had to lay down when I got shots so I wouldn't pass out. Pregnancy cured me of that fear, among many others, I am sure.

5. I am a highly anxious person about some things, like trying a new restaurant, not knowing which lane to be in while driving, scared of getting a flat tire, fear of leaving my zipper down on my jeans, when my house is disorganized, etc.

6. I am way hotter if someone else puts my make up on for me. I just can't put it on right. This saddens me that I don't have my own hair and make up team, yet.

7. I have known my husband for almost 8 years in December. We met on-line when I was a senior and he was a freshman in college. I never tell this story. We have been inseparable ever since our first date. We have been married since May 14, 2005. We were married in Kauai, just me and him, and our officiant and photographer. I wouldn't change a thing.

8. Jobs I have had (in order for the most part): babysitting, Hutch's Bicycle Shop in Springfield Oregon on 21st and Main, High Street Bicycles (near 5th St Public Market in Eugene), Sunglass Hut, Church Nursery Teacher in Eugene, Fred Meyer Pharmacy clerk, The Healthy Weigh weight loss counselor (fave job), LDC Design Group/Parati marketing specialist, MOTHER TO TAYLOR (the very best!), Gymboree sales associate, and now a self-employed business owner to lemon drop studio | fresh-squeezed gifts, oh, and still a mom.

9. I can't plan a meal to save my life. That's what I don't like about cooking. Give me a plan and a specific grocery list and I am fine, happy, even. But just tell me to make a dinner and I am cranky.

10. I turn into dizzy, hungry hulk when I get hungry. I am not a nice person. I say things I shouldn't, and tend to have toddler-like tantrums until I am fed. This can get really horrible for all involved. (Dizzy, Hungry Hulk is a term taken from an episode of My Name is Earl).

11. I have dreams that could potentially get me locked up. They are detailed, seem to last forever, are are so so so strange. Sometimes people I tell my dreams to just look sad for me, or start backing away slowly.

12. I love making lists. I love it so much that I can't remember a single thing unless I write it down. And I am so OCD about being tidy and organized (although you couldn't tell by seeing me) that I re-write my lists if they get too sloppy. I used to re-write my math homework out, too. And all my class notes.

13. I adore stationery. I love sending people cards and letters, hand written! And I love pens and pencils, or any writing utensil. Oh they make me happy. Office supplies in general, I suppose.

14. I make my bed every single day. Even if I am sick. I also will not take a nap with the blinds down or curtains closed. I like to nap in the daylight.

15. I love jeans. I love skirts and dresses in theory, but once I have one on me, all I can think about is being in jeans.

16. Pets I have had since birth: Tonka a tailless cat, Sarge a chocolate lab, Turbo a norfolk terrier, Em a norfolk terrier, Teaser a norfolk terrier, Rocky a norfolk terrier, Rowdy a hedgehog, countless beta fish (Nelly being my fave), goldfishes Spike and Pretzel, 2 white rats Kissy and Lucy, Buddy the bird, Zoe the cat, Maddie the dog.

17. Amos Lee is my favorite singer. A close second is Jack Johnson.

18. I talk in my sleep. A lot. I used to walk in my sleep as a child, and once woke up and couldn't find any of my sheets or blankets on my bed. I woke up my mom and we searched the whole house. I had stuck them in the bathtub in my sleep. Totally normal.

19. Favorite toys growing up: Popples, Barbies, My Little Ponies.

20. I have never broken a bone in my body, and have never had surgery. I like to pick scabs. I know that is gross, but that's just how it is.

21. I love breakfast foods!!

22. Smells I love: new car smell, new shoes, shoebox smell, newborns, puppy breath, coconut, citrus smells, cinnamon, fresh cut grass, rain on the sidewalk (can't remember Karlie's fancy term for this), gasoline at the gas station (don't judge me), clean smell. Nothing over the top or fancy.

23. I am super simple. I like simple things, simple decorating, simple art, simple cards, simple clothes. I like things relaxed and fun and laid back. I like honesty and genuineness and kindness. I strive to be all of that each day. Some days I do better than others.

24. I am terrified of small spaces. I blame this on the time my friend Jenny and I got stuck in a refrigerator box together. I hate elevators. I really hate being too hot, and since I have been pregnant and had Taylor, I am always too hot now.

25. I love The Office. That TV show is the only one I am hooked on. I have 'a thing' for Jim (John Krasinksi), and I can relate with Dwight on many levels, including appearance (kidding). The only other show I have ever loved this much is Mama's Family, with Vicki Lawrence. I wish I could still get reruns on some of my channels. Someone tape them all for me and send them to me and you can have $199 worth of etsy things from my shop, I am SERIOUS!! I really am.

26. I love the University of Oregon, I love the DUCKS! I graduated in 2005 with my bachelor's degree in Family and Human Services from the College of Education. I graduated with honors, on the Deans list, with an accumulative 3.9 GPA in my major. I will use my degree when Taylor and future baby are in school.

Well, thanks for listening to me. If you made it all the way through the list and want to know something else, leave a comment or email me and ask, and I'll post more facts as I get them.

a favorite blog

Do you guys know how much I adore The Children's Nest?! Well, I do. And you should, too. Go check it out. She just had her first giveaway. I think I am too late to enter, but still wanted to spread the good word...

little sis

Today my one and only little sister, Karlie Jaye, turns 21. I remember going to the hospital with my mom and dad when it was time to have Karlie, and waiting patiently for my little sister to arrive. And then she came. And from that moment on, life was different. It was better. Funnier. Harder. Complicated. Simple. Amazing.

So many things could sum Karlie up, but the word that does it for me, is kindness. Karlie is a kind soul, a fun girl, a walking contradiction at times, shy, wild, perverted, disturbed, intelligent, passive-aggressive, and just so kind, gentle and insightful. The world is much better because she is here, and I truly mean that. I am better because she is here.

Karlie, I love you more than words could say. I love being your older sister. You couldn't make me more proud of the amazing lady you have become. (I use the word 'lady' loosely, you can burp like a lumberjack.) Enjoy your 21st birthday and know how deeply cared about, admired and loved you are, by your big sister, your only sister, therefore your favorite sister.

Happy Birthday Karlie!

trailering + birthday week

Hi Sweet Friends,

Well, I am back from Girls Weekend with the Ma-in-Law and my Aunt Michelle and I had so much fun. I feel well rested, happy and ready for my birthday week. (Yes, I don't like to limit a birthday to just a DAY, I feel a week is much more appropriate, and well-deserved).

We got to Cape Lookout on Friday night, got all set up and had a great dinner. Saturday we watched two movies, classics, if you ask me: The Holiday and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Love them. We ate lots, drank wine, played games, had beer, played games and talked the entire time. Sunday was a bit more of the same and then a short little drive home. We did try to take a walk on the beach but we all got sandblasted by a big gust of wind and since I never stop talking, my molars were full of sand. Ick. It was stormy all weekend, but fun to hear the rain on the top of the trailer. Ahhhh.

When I got home Sunday Trask and Taylor were still in one piece. Taylor was in his car seat asleep while Trask helped get my bags from the trailer to our car to head home. I think perhaps Taylor had a sugar-crash. I am just guessing based on the things I saw in the garbage can. The boys ate like kings. Sugar kings. And NO, that is not really my sink in Trask's blog, by the way. I was horrified to see that picture up there, thinking you guys would judge me. That is not my kitchen, no way! I really felt like I had to clear that up. Thanks. I hope you believe me.

So, today is Day 2 of Birthday Week. My real birthday falls on Friday, the 14th. (Gather your gifts, banners, cupcakes, statues of me and have them ready!!) I have always been a birthday lover, so this one is no exception. And last year I had an awful birthday, so I hope this one makes up for 2007.

My drama last year included a stomach flu like no other for about a week, going to Oceanside to try to stay in a fun hotel with said flu while the winds blew over 95 mph, a cranky kid, still the flu, and when I thought it was gone a week later, going out for drinks with Trask while Nana watched Taylor, but finding out I was still sick and barfing up my drink and dessert. Oh, and Trask was unemployed.

This will be a better birthday - I can already tell. Trask is taking Thursday and Friday off to spend with Taylor and I - that's enough of a gift in itself. I love family time.

Okay, so what's on the agenda for today? It's Veteran's Day. Taylor and I are going to go see Madagascar II with Summer and McKenna. Taylor hasn't been to a theater since we saw Meet the Robinsons over a year ago. (Bad mom, I know!!) We'll see if he sits down to watch it. He did sit down with Trask for the Blazers game, so we'll see.

That's it for now. Stay tuned, I'll be listing soon 26 random things about me in celebration of turning 26.

so fun!

Last night's Wining Women event at Vino100 was awesome! Here I will post a picture of my table, but to see more details, just go to lemon drop studio's blog right here.

Now today is going to consist of packing for the weekend, and filling and shipping a few etsy orders. Yahoo!

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend, and I'll talk to y'all on Monday!

girl time

Ah, I have been so busy I have neglected my poor blogs. Ugh, I hate it when that happens. Do you forgive me? I hope so. Don't make me beg, it's not as pretty as you would hope and expect.

I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get ready for Vino100's Wining Women tonight, where I am their partner this month and will have a table there tonight with my cards, crayons, hair ties, hair clips and more. I feel ready. And Summer is going to be with me, so it'll be just perfect. Isn't she rad for running the table with me. It must be for the free wine. :) If you are local, come on down and visit us, it's from 5pm to 8pm at Vino100, near the Streets of Tanasbourne. You'll be so glad you did.

Tomorrow marks a big adventure. I will be spending two nights away from Trask and Taylor. I am sad to be without them, but happy for a chance to get away with some special gals and have some down-time. I am so happy I won't have to change a diaper or tell them to stop climbing up the cabinets and counters. I hope I won't have to tell them that, at least. I am going away to Cape Lookout with my Ma-in-Law Gail and my Aunt Michelle, and we're going to be 'roughing it' in Michelle's honkin' huge, nice trailer. Oh I can't wait! Glory, glory! We're going to watch lots of movies, read our books, walk on the beach, eat and drink, and I am more than ready. I will still miss my guys, but I am sure they'll have tons of fun things planned and will be hanging out at home all day in their undies. Ewwww. I will definitely document our weekend on camera and share pictures when I return.

Okay friends, creeps, stalkers, family and the like... I'll give a little update tomorrow to let y'all know how Wining Women goes. Wish me luck, Lord knows I will need it!!

...that all November long the EtsyMom Team is doing a giveaway - 2 goodies every day in November. Go enter daily and win, win, win some great goodies! Go here and good luck.

And guess what, my etsy shop had it's 100th sale today. I couldn't be happier. Well, I suppose my 101st sale will really make me smile, too.

How do you guys feel about this, Baconnaise? Can I just tell you that this scares me to death and gives me chills up and down my spine.

I am not going to get all political on anyone, I am sure we're all a bit sick of the ads, phone calls and the mail and everything else that is screaming politics in our faces right now, so all I will say is: Please go and VOTE. I don't care how you vote, I just care that you vote. And when you are turning in your ballot, think about how awesome I am. Or about how awesome you are for voting.

That is all.

... and you have to go read about it right here!!!

That is all. I am much too hyped up and excited to say anything else intelligible right now.

a few Halloween jokes...

One of my swap partners on swap-bot sent me some Halloween jokes along with a card, so I thought I'd feature some of the jokes to get ready for Halloween. Enjoy them, as (candy)corny as they are...

What would a monster's psychiatrist be called?

Why do mummies have trouble keeping friends?
They're too wrapped up in themselves

What kind of streets do zombies like the best?
Dead ends

I went to the dentist this morning to get my teeth cleaned and for some strange reason, my mouth was dry the whole time. This made the mirror and utensils the technician was using keep sticking to my lips and the inside of my cheeks. And then she'd try to move the mirror and it'd be stuck to my cheek. How awkward. She kept laughing. I kept trying to produce saliva to help out, but it just wasn't happening... it was my destiny today to have dry, awkward mouth at the dentist.

PS: I go in on the 5th to get my canines extended - like a vampire. But not really. You'll see.

he's baaaaack

The hubs, Trask, is blogging again, and boy am I ever grateful. Go check him out on his blog. He promises to write more often, please help me make sure that he does!!

I had to go out and buy this journal the other day - for a few reasons.

Reason number one, it's so cute. Don't you just love it? I love the colors and the pattern. I guess I am a sucker for notebooks and such, or perhaps just a sucker.

Reason number two, I am starting to write to Taylor in this journal, recapping our days and events and the funny things he says. I will give it to him when he's all grown up, and hopefully he'll read it and say, 'man, I sure was insane, the reason my mom is the way that she is is because of me'.

Just another fun way to share his childhood with him when he's older, and to help me remember all of this!

fabric heart

I had to make a fabric heart for my partner on a swap-bot swap, so I wanted to show it off to everyone.

I am proud of this little booger because it was my first project that I have sewn on my new-to-me sewing machine from Trask's Grandma. I love that machine!! Also, it's my first sewing project where I don't just sew straight lines. I know it's simple, but it's a big deal for me.

My partner's favorite colors are pink and purple, so I did light purple flannel on one side and purple and white gingham flannel on the other side. I just sent it off to her yesterday. It's going all the way to Belgium.

That was fun. I can't wait to make more. Anyone want one?
